I'm a forty something information technology professional and Linux enthusiast. I live in Hampshire, England, with my wife and daughter. I've been using Linux since 1995 and my first experience with Ubuntu was 4.10 (Warty Warthog). Prior to Ubuntu I used Yggdrasil, Slackware, Redhat, CRUX and Fedora. Ubuntu was my only workstation operating system from late 2004 until early 2012 when I switched to Arch Linux for my workstations. | I'm a forty something information technology professional and Linux enthusiast. About Me
I'm a forty something information technology professional and Linux enthusiast. Ubuntu was my only workstation operating system from late 2004 until early 2012, when I switched to Arch Linux for my workstations.
Things I do for Ubuntu
I have recently co-founded Ubuntu MATE and am currently the project lead. I am keen that Ubuntu MATE get recognised as an official Ubuntu flavor. Since starting work on Ubuntu MATE I have contributed several merge propsals to Ubuntu.
External Stuff
Arch Linux Trusted User currently maintaining ~200 packages.
Maintainer of the MATE Live CD (based on Arch Linux)
- Debian contributor for the MATE packinging team.
MATE desktop and Arch Linux liason for Sonar GNU/Linux.
Regular contributor to Linux Unplugged.
- Interviewed for several Linux related podcasts.
- Member of 2 local LUGs.
Future Work
- Establish a larger team of regular contributors for Ubuntu MATE.
- Refine Ubuntu MATE, with regard to user experience and artwork.
Room for Improvement
There are areas where I'd like to improve myself and my own knowledge:
- More development using GObject Introspection.
