I am a husband, a father, and a writer. I have written magazine articles, contributed to books, and written and published my own books on Moroccan culture. I am also a musician who plays the guitar and the bass, have played as a studio musician for other artists, and hope someday to record some of my own music. I am an avid and voracious reader, speak several languages, have worked as a consultant on topics including culture, language, religion and computers, and spent several years running a small business in North Africa.

• I am an Ubuntu member and have been since August 21, 2006.

• I was a member of the Forum Council (one of the admins) for the Official Ubuntu Forums from December 2006 to April 2011, including the council chairmanship for most of that last year. I was a staff member in the forums from 2005-2012.

• I am a past member of the Europe, Middle East and Africa regional approval board.

• I am coauthor of "The Official Ubuntu Book" and "VMware Cookbook" and am the author of "Ubuntu Unleashed".
• I started working for Canonical in March 2016 until I was laid off in April 2017. I then went to work for Red Hat. These days I am breaking things on purpose for Gremlin.
