I am a husband, a father of three, and a writer. I have written magazine articles, contributed to books, and written and published my own books on Moroccan culture. I am also a musician who plays the guitar and the bass, have played as a studio musician for other artists, and hope someday to record some of my own music. I am an avid and voracious reader, speak several languages, have worked as a consultant on topics including culture, language, religion and computers, and spent several years running a small business in North Africa before moving back to my hometown of Tucson, Arizona. I currently work for an open source project assisting with cutting edge biological and genetic research.
I am an Ubuntu member and have been since August 21, 2006.
I was a member of the Forum Council (one of the admins) for the Official Ubuntu Forums from December 2006 to April 2011, including the council chairmanship for most of that last year. I am still a staff member in the forums, but expanding responsibility in real life led me to step aside and allow others to take the leadership.
I am a past member of the Europe, Middle East and Africa regional approval board.
