About
I am an IT Engineer (currently) specialising in HP Products (anything from ipaqs, laptops & desktops to mission critical servers & everything in between). We run a highly customised Ubuntu based SOE on all company Desktops & Laptops within our company (Australia-wide). I am eagerly awaiting the release of Lucid as I believe our SOE should be based on an LTS. Currently we have been upgrading the SOE after each Ubuntu release.
I first tried Ubuntu when 6.10 (Edgy) was released in 2008. By the time 7.04 (Feisty) was released I was hooked & switched all of my computers over to Ubuntu. Since then I have managed to successfully convert my partner/girlfriend to Ubuntu & she is actually liking it more than windows.
I am also currently in the process of setting up a dual-boot desktop for my grandmother as I believe remotely administering an Ubuntu system would be a whole lot better than letting her to continue using windows & contributing to the "Australian Botnet Army" I believe that Ubuntu is ideal for people (especially the older generation) who mainly use their computers to access emails, chat, surf the net & play the occasional game of solitaire/freecell.

I can usually be found hanging out in #ubuntu-bugs, #ubuntu-testing, #ubuntu-au & #ubuntu-au-chat.
To Do
- Find a package or area of interest within Ubuntu to specialise in
- Continue trying to learn python
Create a plan to spread the message to less technical people & also the older generation that Ubuntu is perfect for their needs & would actually improve their computing experience
- Create a blog outlining the experiences of my grandmothers' switch from windows to Ubuntu
- Find more ways to contribute back to the Ubuntu Community
Contributions
Currently I'm starting out with bug triage. I also have been doing some work in SRU & iso testing.
