Current Issues

Briefly:
1. The speaker does not automatically mute when a headphone is plugged. Add the following to /etc/rc.local to fix:
/usr/bin/amixer -c 0 sset "Auto-Mute Mode" Enabled
2. The screen automatically rotates rightwards after login, as in bug. https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1326885
3. The light sensor doesn't correctly respond to ambience light, as in bug: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux/+bug/1322396 Add the following to /etc/rc.local to allow user to disable ambience light sensor
sudo chmod 666 /sys/devices/platform/asus_laptop/ls_switch
Later as a user turn off ambience light sensor with
$ echo 0 > /sys/devices/platform/asus_laptop/ls_switch

Notes
On initial installation use a USB keyboard & mouse.
After Ubuntu is installed & rebooted, goto System Settings then Assistive Technologies then Preferred Applications then Mobility select onBoard and check the box for Run at Start
This will enable the on-screen virtual keyboard on system boot so you can enter initial login/password information.
