A follow-up email was sent to RT to reinstate our Website. Hopefully we get a response soon.

Ubuntu-ph.org
The main page of our website would be served by Drupal and themed with Ubuntu LoCo Drupal Theme.

A selection of modules would be available to us, but unauthorized ones would have to be tested and approved by Canonical Sys``Admins before we could install them.

The choice of Drupal for our script is, apparently, the most logical solution. Not only is it preferred by most LoCos, but it's also encouraged due to LoCo tools already available as Drupal Modules.

PlanetPlanet
Like most LoCos, the feed aggregator would be installed on a subdirectory, e.g. http://ubuntu-ph.org/planet and updates triggered by a cron rule.

Configuration's done manually, but we may be able to create a Drupal module to add, remove, and edit user entries graphically. We're quite certain that this would be a welcome addition to existing LoCo tools.

Launchpad
Wiki
I made the mistake of forgetting to backup the files of our wiki before I went on a Sabbatical, and it has costs the community important files and data. To prevent history from repeating itself, I push for the usage of wiki.ubuntu.com instead of setting up our own. This will also benefit the whole Ubuntu community since our data/content would also be available to them.

Below are the items that were marked as Pending. I believe few members would still want to see this pushed through. Since we've lost all the data hosted on ServerPronto Mekong, all of the items below was recalled from memory.

ubuntu-ph.org Email Address / Redirect
I believe this is plausible since the Korea Team has received favorable response ( thread). So the only thing we need to worry about is hosting.

Multi-Blog Application
If I remember correctly, this was marked as rejected since almost every member has their own blog and aggregated in Planet``Planet. Having a Multi-Blog for Ubuntu-PH members seems too redundant.

However, some might disagree, I'd like to open a discussion regarding this issue.

Picture Gallery
If allowed by Canonical Sys``Admins, we may be able to use Gallery2 Module for Drupal. This module would allow easy to images we care to share to the community.

Ubuntu Team Philippines

Welcome to the website of the Ubuntu Team Philippines. The Philippine Team is made up of many members from around the country, with the goal of increasing awareness (and use) of Ubuntu within the country.

The Philippines (Filipino: Pilipinas), is an island nation located in Southeast Asia, with Manila as its capital city. The Philippine Archipelago comprises 7,107 islands in the western Pacific Ocean.

Team Goals

Four goals were discussed and agreed upon in the Team Meeting of 2005 Oct. 26. These are long-term goals which are achievable in 10 years or as long as it is valid. Specific short-term goals that are in line with these will be discussed in succeeding meetings, or by contributing here.

 1. Spread GNU/Linux and FOSS in the Philippines using Ubuntu Goals
 2. Translate Ubuntu to Languages in the Philippines Goals
 3. Document Ubuntu Usage Patterns in the Philippines, and Provide Solutions and Support thereof
 4. Work with Other Communities in the Philippines

How to Join

Joining Ubuntu-PH is easy, you only need to do two things:

 1. Translate a project, Report a Bug, or Triage a Bug. Ubuntu is a community effort, and any form of contribution is very much welcome.
 2. and Join the Philippines Team in Launchpad

Seminars and Gatherings

Software Freedom Day 2007

The recently concluded Software Freedom Day 2007 was a success. It was held at the Advanced Science and Technology Institute in Manila.

Proposed Roadmap for 2009

The recent change of LoCo Contact of Ubuntu-PH was brought about by months of inactivity by members of the community. We are deeply saddened by the fact that Filipino Ubuntu Users are growing, but our decreased contributions has them turning elsewhere. We are in the unique position to aid individuals and organizations alike, and as a community, it is our obligation to do so.

The goal of this article is to revitalize the team. Attract new users and encourage current members to donate an hour or two of their time for our cause. Please don't hesitate to add or comment on any item listed here. Remember, this is a community effort.

Re-Organization of Ubuntu-PH

The purpose of this item is to ensure that we have an individual who can represent the team for each and every Contact Resource we have at our disposal. We shall adopt the Buddy System so representatives can help each other and cover as much ground as possible.

IRC

As detailed on the Ubuntu-PH Updates email, the LoCo IRC Channel shall remain in the very capable hands of Jerome Gotangco. Everything #ubuntu-ph shall fall under his discretion. We do, however, need one more member of the community to stand-in and help Jerome.

 • Jerome Gotangco
 • ...

Forum

Our LoCo Forum is currently moderated by Loell Anthony Erecre and Juan Carlos Torres. However, Carlos made it known that he's pursuing projects outside of Ubuntu and won't be able to fulfill his duties as a Moderator. Dax Solomon Umaming has stepped up and sent a request to replace Carlos to ubuntu-geek.

 • Loell Anthony Erecre
 • Dax Solomon Umaming (backup)

Mailing List

A request has been made by the LoCo Contact to Ubuntu RT to changeover the ownership of the LoCo Mailing List. We will need two members to serve as List Administrator once the transition is complete.

Launchpad

Launchpad is already managed by current Administrators.

Pending Projects

Below are the items that were marked as Pending. I believe few members would still want to see this pushed through. Since we've lost all the data hosted on ServerPronto Mekong, all of the items below was recalled from memory.

ubuntu-ph.org Email Address / Redirect

I believe this is plausible since the Korea Team has received favorable response (thread). So the only thing we need to worry about is hosting.

If I remember correctly, this was marked as rejected since almost every member has their own blog and aggregated in PlanetPlanet. Having a Multi-Blog for Ubuntu-PH members seems too redundant.
