Ubuntu Team Philippines

Welcome to the website of the Ubuntu Team Philippines. The Philippine Team is made up of many members from around the country, with the goal of increasing awareness (and use) of Ubuntu within the country.

The Philippines (Filipino: Pilipinas), is an island nation located in Southeast Asia, with Manila as its capital city. The Philippine Archipelago comprises 7,107 islands in the western Pacific Ocean.

Team Goals

Four goals were discussed and agreed upon in [http://www.ubuntu-ph.org/wiki/TeamMeeting20051026 TeamMeeting20051026]. These are long-term goals which are achievable in 10 years or as long as it is valid. Specific short-term goals that are in line with these will be discussed in succeeding meetings, or by contributing here.

  1. Spread GNU/Linux and FOSS in the Philippines using Ubuntu Goals
  2. Translate Ubuntu to Languages in the Philippines Goals
  3. Document Ubuntu Usage Patterns in the Philippines, and Provide Solutions and Support thereof
  4. Work with Other Communities in the Philippines

How to Join

Joining Ubuntu-PH is easy, you only need to do two things:

The recently concluded Software Freedom Day 2007 was a success. It was held at the Advanced Science and Technology Institute in Manila.

Drupal and MoinMoin Upgrade

  • This site is powered by [http://moinmoin.wikiwikiweb.de/ MoinMoin] and [http://www.drupal.org/ Drupal] and has long since considered outdated and a possible threat to the server it's hosted on. Drupal and MoinMoin released a newer version which fixed a lot of bugs and patched known vulnerabilities.

  • Drupal's newest stable release is 5.2
  • MoinMoin newest stable release is 1.5.8

  • There was a proposal before that we have our own logo, there's a proposal now that we consider it.
