About Me

I've been using Linux since 1998, starting with Red Hat. I quickly moved to Debian for a long time, then to Ubuntu during the WartyWarthog release. My local LUG is the Townsville Linux Users Group, for which I administer both the website and Freenode irc channel (#tlug) voluntary. I am also a member of Linux Australia and host the primary mirror for the "Linux Australia Update", a fortnightly .ogg/podcast of current news and events of the Australian Linux community. In the past I have also done a little bit of writing for the KDE Documentation Team and even won prizes for it!

How Have I Contributed to Ubuntu?

I am an active member of the Ubuntu DocumentationTeam and lead maintainer of the Ubuntu/Kubuntu FAQ Guides. I plan on having at least the Ubuntu version of the FAQ Guide ready to be released with BreezyBadger and the Kubuntu version either with that or soon after. I also have have started work on platform specific versions of the Ubuntu FAQ Guide (i386, AMD64 and PowerPC) which are profiled in within the same set of FAQ Guide documents. I'm currently hosting an up-to-date (at time of writing) preview of the i386 Ubuntu FAQ Guide at:

Much of the FAQ Guide was rewritten by myself with the main aim of fixing all the criticisms of UbuntuGuide.org. The FAQ Guide at this stage looks like it will be the only Ubuntu-specific documentation released with BreezyBadger and will be available locally through Yelp, the GNOME help viewer. More information is available at DocteamProjects, [https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FAQGuide FAQGuide] and [https://wiki.ubuntu.com/FAQGuideReSpec FAQGuideReSpec].

When I see a need I also write howtos and post them to the Ubuntu Wiki, as well as edit things I think need changing. Some examples of my work include:

I also promote Ubuntu in my local community. One example of this is the upcoming Software Freedom Day where I am first educating my local LUG about Ubuntu, then we will all spread the message on the day. A presentation I gave is available from http://www.linuxhd.com/UbuntuPres.sxi and on [https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Presentations Presentations].
