About Me

I've been using Linux since 1998, starting with Red Hat. I quickly moved to Debian for a long time, then to Ubuntu during the WartyWarthog release. My local LUG is the Townsville Linux Users Group, for which I administer both the website and Freenode irc channel (#tlug) voluntary and I am also a member of Linux Australia. In the past I have also done a little bit of writing for the KDE Documentation Team and even won prizes for it!

My Interest in Ubuntu

I am a member of the Ubuntu DocumentationTeam and currently the maintainer/author of the [http://help.ubuntu.com/starterguide/C/index.html Ubuntu Starter Guide]. I am interested in writing top quality documentation for the Ubuntu Linux operating system that rivals or bests any other documentation available elsewhere.

How Have I Contributed to Ubuntu?

I am the maintainer/author of the Ubuntu Starter Guide that was released with BreezyBadger and available via Yelp in every Ubuntu BreezyBadger installation. Based off ubuntuguide.org, the [http://help.ubuntu.com/starterguide/C/index.html Ubuntu Starter Guide] aims to address several key criticisms whist being technically correct and open to the Ubuntu community. I also help maintain other documents in the DocumentationTeam subversion repository and help out new contributors to Ubuntu documentation.

For DapperDrake the DocumentationTeam has decided to split the Ubuntu Starter Guide into the Ubuntu Desktop Starter Guide and the Ubuntu Server Starter Guide. I am also currently working to plan out the direction of these two new documents, see DesktopStarterGuideSpec for more details.

I also help out the WikiTeam by writing new guides or editing things I think need changing on the Ubuntu wiki. Some examples of my wiki-related work where I have contributed significantly include:

Other non-documentation things I have contributed to the Ubuntu community include:
