Current work involves administering ~300 Hardy workstations and some Tru64-UNIX servers and clusters. When not working, I'm trying to finish my master's degree (major: semiconductors and materials of electronics), other hobbies include singing in a mixed choir and various sports (ultimate, floorball, soccer) I've been using Linux since 1998; first briefly SuSE, then Debian unstable until in November 2004 I had to reinstall my laptop and decided to try Ubuntu because of the Debian heritage. Now my home computer runs Dapper, and some/most of my friends have installed Ubuntu as well and are very pleased. == Skills == * General UNIX-administration, mostly Linux and Tru64 UNIX (+Trucluster) * shell & some perl, other languages read-only for now * deb-packaging (in-house packages for Ansys, Maple, Mathematica, Matlab and others...) == What I'm interested in == * GNOME, in general * NFSv4 support. Essential for installations behind insecure networks * making sure that Ubuntu behaves well in a campus network with hundreds of clients * improving the framework for automatic installations * improving various tools aimed at system administrators * VDR * X.org |
