The next big thing for me to accomplish is to build a campus-wide installation and maintenance system that can scale to hundreds of machines (desktops and laptops), and I think Ubuntu is well suited for that.

I'm an unix administrator working part time for the Computing Centre of Helsinki University of Technology in Finland. Current work involves administering 200+ Linux (Debian Sarge atm) workstations and some Tru64-servers. When not working, I'm trying to finish my master's degree (major: semiconductors and materials of electronics).

What I'm interested in Ubuntu

  • GNOME (in general)
  • NFSv4 support. Essential for installations behind "insecure" networks
  • improving the framework for automatic installations
  • improving various tools aimed at system administrators
