I am a new Linux user, after getting Ubuntu Hoary disks through ShipIt in August of 2005. I tried out the Live CD once, did an install dual-boot with Windows XP, and have now completely migrated from Windows to Ubuntu (now Breezy), although keeping the dual-boot (with less disk space to Windows than before).
I run Ubuntu 5.10 "Breezy Badger" on an IBM/Lenovo ThinkPad T43, with a fair amount of success. The internal softmodem and power management have been a little tricky, but other things seem to work well.
