Kubuntu Hug Day
Today we will be working on transitioning old KDE 3 bug reports to KDE 4 for Intrepid.
Here we have a sampling of bugs to work on for Hug Day. After you have triaged or fixed a bug put your name in the last column and set the row's background to green by adding lightgreen in the first cell of the column after "background-color:" and before ";". This will let people know that the bug in that row has been hugged.
You might find it more convenient to edit the wiki page using editmoin a command line utility for editing moinmoin wiki pages. It is available as a package in Gutsy and Hardy. More information including an easier way to do this was mailed to the Bug Squad.
You will need:
- An install or live CD of Hardy/KDE3
An install of Intrepid (preferred but not recommended) OR Hardy with KDE 4.1 beta packages OR Hardy with KDE 4.1 daily build packages

During hug days you can also do 5-A-Day for this one you can do the following in order to tag your work on the hug day:
- 5-a-day --add-tag hugday-20080708
- Add bugs to 5-a-day as usual
- And when done with hug day run: 5-a-day --remove-tag hugday-20080708

Description of what kind of bugs they are and how people can find more.
To mark it off the list you should:
- Test on Hardy/KDE3. If it's not present, then mark it fixed or invalid, as appropriate. If you can confirm it on Hardy/KDE3:
If it qualifies for SRU according to StableReleaseUpdates (if you are unsure, please ask!), mark it Confirmed and click "Nominate for release" to nominate it to be fixed in Hardy. If all other needed information is there, mark it Triaged. In most cases, the importance should be set to High, since if it wasn't important it probably doesn't qualify for SRU either.
- If it doesn't, go on to step 2.
- (optional). Test on Hardy/KDE4 with backports. If it's not present, then mark it fixed. If not, go on to step 3.
- Test on Hardy with KDE 4.1 daily build OR (preferably) on Intrepid. If it's not present mark it fixed. If it's still there, and all needed information is there, mark it Triaged (you may need to ask someone in bugcontrol to do this).
As usual, if you think a bug is not specific to Kubuntu, and for application feature requests, and most non-packaging bugs, look for and/or file the bug upstream at bugs.kde.org. If one is not there, file a new one. On the Launchpad bug, go to "Also affects project..." and link to the KDE bug. When filing a bug at bugs.kde.org that's already in Launchpad, include "originally filed here:" and the link the the Launchpad bug. For an existing bug, comment that it "was also filed here: ..."
DO NOT change bugs to -kde4 packages.
