This week's Hug Day will focus on Kernel audio bugs! We're specifically looking at bugs filed against the kernel package, but are assigned to ubuntu-audio. As the Intrepid Ibex 8.10 Alpha 2 is scheduled to be released today, we'd like to encourage bug reporters to verify if the bug still exists in this upcoming release. The goal of today's bug day will be to help to reduce the number of audio bugs in Ubuntu by giving the Audio Team a hand triaging bugs.

Here we have a sampling of bugs to work on for Hug Day. After you have triaged or fixed a bug put your name in the last column and set the row's background to green by adding lightgreen in the first cell of the column after "background-color:" and before ";". This will let people know that the bug in that row has been hugged.

You might find it more convenient to edit the wiki page using editmoin a command line utility for editing moinmoin wiki pages. It is available as a package in Gutsy and Hardy. More information including an easier way to do this was mailed to the Bug Squad.

5-a-day-ing

During hug days you can also do 5-A-Day for this one you can do the following in order to tag your work on the hug day:

• 5-a-day --add-tag hugday-20080710
• Add bugs to 5-a-day as usual
• And when done with hug day run: 5-a-day --remove-tag hugday-20080710

14 Bugs in linux Assigned to ubuntu-audio

These bugs have been filed against the linux package and are assigned to ubuntu-audio.

To mark it off the list you should:

1. Ask the bug reporter to test the Intrepid Ibex 8.10 Alpha2 LiveCD.

2. Once the issue has been verified against the Intrepid 2.6.26 kernel, ask them to provide the appropriate debugging information against the Intrepid 2.6.26 kernel as outlined in the Debugging Sound Problems wiki.

3. Set the "linux" kernel task to "Incomplete".

It unfortunately appears that this bug is not yet resolved.  The Intrepid Ibex 8.10 Alpha2 is scheduled for release today.  It will appear at the following when available: http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/intrepid/alpha2 .  It contains the actively developed 2.6.26 Ubuntu kernel.  It would be great if you could test this upcoming release via a LiveCD and verify if the issue still exists.  If so, please include the appropriate debugging information as outlined at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingSoundProblems .  Thanks in advance.

28 Bugs in linux-source-2.6.22 Assigned to ubuntu-audio

These bugs have been filed against the linux-source-2.6.22 package and are assigned to ubuntu-audio.

To mark it off the list you should:

1. Make sure the bug is carried forward by verifying the "linux" kernel task has been opened for the bug. This can be done by clicking on the "Also affects distribution" link in the Actions area on left hand side of the bug report. Select Ubuntu as the Distribution and type in linux for the Source Package Name.
2. Ask the bug reporter to test the Intrepid Ibex 8.10 Alpha2 LiveCD or at a minimum if the issue still exists in the Hardy Heron 8.04 kernel (2.6.24). .

3. Once the issue has been verified against the Intrepid 2.6.26 kernel, ask them to provide the appropriate debugging information against the Intrepid 2.6.26 kernel as outlined in the Debugging Sound Problems wiki.

4. Set the "linux" kernel task to "Incomplete".

These bugs have been filed against the linux-source-2.6.17 package and are assigned to ubuntu-audio.

To mark it off the list you should:

1. Close the "linux-source-2.6.17" task with a Status of "Won't Fix" as the 18 month support cycle for the 2.6.17 has reached it's end of life.
   1. If you do not have the ability to set the "Won't Fix" status, tag the bug as edgy-close or ask someone in #ubuntu-bugs to help you mark it as "Won't Fix"
2. Make sure the bug is carried forward by verifying the "linux" kernel task has been opened for the bug. This can be done by clicking on the "Also affects distribution" link in the Actions area on left hand side of the bug report. Select Ubuntu as the Distribution and type in linux for the Source Package Name.
3. Ask the bug reporter to test the Intrepid Ibex 8.10 Alpha2 LiveCD or at a minimum if the issue still exists in the Hardy Heron 8.04 kernel (2.6.24). .

The 18 month support period for Edgy Eft 6.10 has reached it's end of life.  As a result, we are closing the linux-source-2.6.17 Edgy Eft kernel task.  However, can you confirm if this issue still exists in the Hardy Heron 8.04 LTS release?  If so, the Intrepid Ibex 8.10 Alpha2 is also scheduled for release today.
