Clear message

This week's Hug Day will focus on Confirmed Bugs without a package!

After you have triaged or fixed a bug put your Launchpad Id in the last column and set the row's background to green by adding lightgreen in the first cell of the column after rowbgcolor=. This will let people know that the bug in that row has been hugged.

Tools

For doing your work easier during the hug days remember to use the hugday-tools.

5-a-day-ing

To sign up for 5-A-Day participation, please add your Launchpad ID to the Participants column. (This is not the email address you used for signing up for LP, but the last part of the URL that https://launchpad.net/people/+me redirects you to (everything behind the ~ sign)):

  1. Click on https://launchpad.net/people/+me

  2. Look at the URL bar, everything behind the ~ sign is your Launchpad ID.

Find the Right Package

Take a look at this wiki page for tips on discovering the correct package. Bugs/FindRightPackage is an excellent resource for pinpointing a bug's source.

Stock Response

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. This bug did not have a package associated with it, which is important for ensuring that it gets looked at by the proper developers. You can learn more about finding the right package at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/FindRightPackage . I have classified this bug as a bug in PKGNAME.
For future reference you might be interested to know that a lot of applications have bug reporting functionality built in to them. This can be accessed via the Report a Problem option in the Help menu for the application with which you are having an issue. You can learn more about this feature at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs.

50 Newest Confirmed bugs without a package

These bug reports are the classic ones without a package but they have been Confirmed theoretically because another user experienced the problem. Since they are Confirmed we should work on assigning them to a package.

To mark it off the list you should:

  • Assign it to a package
  • For bonus Hug, test if the issue is still reproducible on Karmic.
