Ubuntu and GIS
Ubuntu supports a number of GIS and geospatial related packages, including QGIS, GRASS and mapserver. Installation is as simple as:
sudo apt-get install cgi-mapserver grass qgis
Specific notes are also available for people interested in developing / BuildingQuantumGisFromSource.
