All what you need to do is:

Official Member

To join up as an official member of the Ubuntu GNOME team, please do at least these steps:

How to create a new Wiki Page

1- Open your browser and type this: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/

For more information on how to edit your Wiki Page, please have a read on HelpOnEditing

Teams

Within lubuntu there are a number of Sub Teams

You are the one who is going to decide which one of these areas you can fit in. If you are in doubt, just ask Smile :)

  • Devs team: Coding (Packaging, patches, fixing, breaking, development of specific applications...)

  • Artwork Team: Creation of graphics and artwork (wallpaper, icons...)

  • Testing team: Test, test, test (QA, ISO testing, SRU testing, bug testing / confirmation)

  • Documentation team: Support (Write and maintain wiki documentation)

  • Communication team: Spread the word (Animate social networks, website, blogs, forum...)

  • Support team: A mix of all the other teams and those who wish to concentrate on the important bit: Support.

  • Translations Team: Does exactly as its title suggests!

  • IRC team: IRC keepers (Moderate and help on IRC)

Meetings

We have regular meet ups on the IRC channels, which are #ubuntu-meeting on irc.freenode.net and #lxde on irc.oftc.net. The logs from our previous lubuntu meetings along with details of forthcoming ones can be viewed at IRC Meetings. The channel topic on both #lubuntu and #lubuntu-offtopic will say when the next meeting is. As we are all on different time-zones, a lot of discussions about direction take place on the mailing list.

How to get started

This is the most asked question after reading all the above. Assuming you have made your choice of which one of the Sub-Teams of Lubuntu you would like to join. Also, assuming you have already joined Lubuntu Mailing List and did all the steps/requirement mentioned previously, you are good to go. All what you need to do is:

  1. Send a new email to the mailing list to introduce yourself with a link of your Wiki Page.
  2. Send a request to join one (or more) of the Sub-Teams of Lubuntu that you are interested about and think you fit the most in. The Head of that sub-team will approve your request as soon as he/she will receive it. However, it is strongly recommended to contact the Head of the Sub-Team that you wish to join before to make yourself known Smile :)

  3. If you have a Social Network Account, join Our Social Networks Areas

  4. Welcome to Lubuntu Team Smile :)
