These are instructions for installing the unofficial KDE client for Ubuntu One.
PLEASE NOTE: This software is currently an alpha release, meaning it is not yet stable. You may have numerous problems with the software, and neither Ubuntu nor the software's author guarantee anything.
Because we want to give everyone using Ubuntu One the very best experience, we require that you run Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty Jackalope) or higher.
Please read our FAQ first if you're have trouble setting up Ubuntu One.
Setup instructions for Kubuntu 10.10 (Maverick)
Before beginning, please make sure your system is up to date. You may do that by running the software updater inside System Settings or by running the following command:
sudo apt-get update;sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
after which you will have to enter your password.
1. Add ppa:apachelogger/ubuntuone-kde to your repositories.
1.1. One way to do this is to open Software Management in System Settings, choosing Settings, and pressing Edit Software Sources. After entering your password, go to the Other Software tab and click Add. Type or copy/paste the following into the textbox in the "Add APT repository" window
and click OK.
Click the Close button in the bottom-right of the Software Sources window and choose the Reload option in the window that pops up. You must be connected to the Internet for this to work. Once the "Refreshing Package Information" window states "Package information successfully refreshed", click the Close button.
1.2. Alternatively, you may enter the following command in the terminal:
sudo apt-add-repository ppa:apachelogger/ubuntuone-kde;sudo apt-get update
1. Choose the "Add and Remove Software" icon in the Software Management window and enter "Ubuntu One KDE" (without the quotes) into the search box. There should be only one result ("ubuntuone-kde" with the description "Ubuntu One for KDE"). Choose the Install button to its right and click the Apply button in the bottom-right corner. You will be asked to install additional packages. Click Continue. You may also be asked to enter in your password (this is normal for installing software).
Kubuntu will now download and install the Ubuntu One client for KDE. Please be patient as this may take a long time depending on your Internet connection.
1. You may now close the System Settings window.
1. Ubuntu One is available under Utilities in the Applications menu.
