Vivid Vervet Beta 1 Released
Elfy, on behalf on the Ubuntu Release Team, announces the release of the first Beta of Vivid Vervet which will become 15.04, telling us which flavors have participated in the release, and from where the images can be downloaded.

Ubuntu Phone: A deep look into the bq Aquaris E4.5
Sujeevan Vijayakumaran writes a review of the BQ Aquarius E4.5 Ubuntu Edition that covers scopes, core and system apps, gestures, and the phone’s hardware. In his conclusion he says: “The hardware isn't too bad, even if the display doesn't have a high resolution. You'll get a device for 170€ from bq with a quite good build quality. The device and the system does have a few bugs, hick-ups and lags”

Ubuntu MATE to Become Official Flavor in a Couple of Days
Silviu Stahie of Softpedia writes that although the Ubuntu MATE developers have been releasing the same versions as the official flavors, and have filed the necessary paperwork to become an official flavor, an announcement has not yet been made. He says that the developers work fast and implement a huge amount of changes in each release.

Kubuntu 15.04 Beta 1 Feels Like It Awakened KDE from a Long Slumber - Screenshot Tour
Silviu Stahie of Softpedia writes that Kubuntu 15.04 Beta 1 (Vivid Vervet) has been released and is ready for testing. He says that the latest version features the Plasma 5 desktop, “the next generation of KDE’s desktop”, which has been “rewritten to make it smoother to use while retaining the familiar setup.”

Ubuntu MATE Is Now An Official Ubuntu Flavor
Joey-Elijah Sneddon of OMG! Ubuntu! says that Ubuntu Mate made the announcement that it was now an official flavor when releasing its first beta in the Ubuntu 15.04 development cycle. Joey adds that there won't be too many user facing differences apart from images being hosted on the main Ubuntu image server but behind the scenes the benefits of official status are more substantial.

New Video Demos Ubuntu Convergence on Tablet, Phone

Ubuntu Phones, Convergence, Snappy Ubuntu Core to Be Showcased at MWC 2015
Marius Nestor of Softpedia reports that Canonical will be at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona to showcase its latest Ubuntu technologies including the convergence of the Unity 8 interface, the BQ Aquaris E4.5 Ubuntu Edition and the Meizu MX4 Ubuntu Edition. He says that Canonical will also demonstrate Ubuntu Snappy Core and the latest Ubuntu OpenStack innovations.
