Vivid release party in Terrassa

Rafael Carrera reports on the Catalan LoCo's release party for Ubuntu 15.04 which was held on the 9th May in Terrassa, near Barcelona. He apologizes for the delay in reporting, and shows us several photographs of the event.

UbuConLA 2015: Attendee Registration Now Open

José Antonio Rey informs us, in both English and Spanish, that attendee registration for UbuConLA 2015, the biggest Ubuntu conference in Latin America, has now opened. He reminds us that the event will take place at the University of Lima in Lima, Peru on the 7th and 8th August, and that a schedule will be available on summit.ubuntu.com. José provides a number of links and from where information about registering for the event and accommodation can be found.

Lubuntu Blog: Notifications fixed

Rafael Laguna reports that thanks to the “Xubuntu guys”, the notifications in the Lubuntu desktop will now display correctly as an old bug that affected GTK themes has now been fixed. He shows us both the old and the new look of the notification panel, and advises that the fix is available from the Lubuntu Artwork PPA.

Ubuntu App Developer Blog: Keeping track of evolving QML components

Christian Dywan of the Ubuntu App Developer Blog writes about QML’s “notable flaw” as a language when it comes to versioning” and how the Ubuntu UI Toolkit has employed a new solution that is now available for everyone. The post goes on to explain how it works and how to use it.

Kubuntu: Plasma 5.3.1 & KDE Applications 15.04.1 Available for Kubuntu 15.04

The Kubuntu team announces the availability of KDE Plasma 5.3.1 and Applications 15.04.1 for Kubuntu 15.04. They advise from where the packages can be downloaded and to where bugs should be reported.

Details on Incoming Funds - October 2012 to April of 2013

Charles Profitt shares details received from Canonical about the period of time when donations to Community, Flavours and Upstream weren't tracked. He writes: "As has been stated before there is no accounting of how the money was spent. The Community Council worked collaboratively with Canonical through the Canonical Community Team to improve the process for tracking expenditures."

Community Council Statement: Jonathan Riddell

Charles Profitt, writing on behalf of the Community Council, informs us that they are currently working on a communication with the Kubuntu Council with regard to their request for additional information in respect of the current dispute surrounding Jonathan Riddell after the Community Council asked him to step back from leadership for a period of one year. He cites some examples of what has caused the dispute, and in his conclusion says: "Now is time to discuss how the Ubuntu Community moves forward with Kubuntu as part of that community."

Dell Now Has Ubuntu Installation Tutorial on Its Website

Silviu Stahie of Softpedia reports of the recent major push by Dell to promote Ubuntu on some of their machines. He says that recently they have written an installation guide for users who bought a machine with Windows instead for them to try a new Operation System.
