=== BQ goes global with Ubuntu ===

Jordana Sherman announces the opening of BQ's global store where anyone can now buy an Aquaris Ubuntu edition handset. Jordana writes: "We know (and BQ has acknowledged) that network frequency, and mobile operator, compatibility in some countries, such as the US, will limit some of the handset and OS functionality that European users are presently enjoying." She continues by saying that Canonical stand committed to bringing the best Ubuntu phone to individual regions around the world.

=== Reintroducing the Ubuntu Free Culture Showcase ===

Nathan Haines announces the reintroduction of the Ubuntu Free Culture Showcase, an opportunity to show off high quality free culture content in Ubuntu, featuring submissions in three categories: wallpapers, video, and audio. He writes that the judges have yet to be selected, links to a wiki page where further information can be found, and confirms a submission deadline of September 15th, 2015 at 23:59 UTC. Nathan says that the winners will be featured in the Ubuntu 15.10 release in October.

=== Daniel Holbach: Ubuntu Community Q&A ===

Daniel Holbach writes that every Tuesday a Ubuntu Community Q&A session is held (15:00 UTC) at http://www.ubuntuonair.com and that old sessions are available via You``Tube. Daniel says that it’s a great way to get to know, and even ask questions to those within the inner circles of Ubuntu.

=== Svetlana Belkin: Membership Board Member Interviews: Pablo Rubianes ===

Svetlana Belkin writes that the Ubuntu Membership Board is responsible for approving new Ubuntu members, and subsequently makes interviews of members of the board available so we can get to better know them. === Ubuntu App Developer Blog: Adaptive page layouts made easy ===

Tim Peeters writes about the Adaptive``Page``Layout component in Ubuntu.Components 1.3 (still under development; official release expected soon). He says that it’ll help make it easier for app developers to write an app that can run on different form factors, without changes to code needed in order to support different screen sizes. Explanation is provided via example and source code.

=== Didier Roche: Ubuntu Make 15.08 with Scala support and a visual studio code hot fix community story ===

Didier Roche writes about his day starting with the discovering of a problem caused by a Visual Studio Code page change. He says that within 12 hours of the breakage, bugs have been opened, a new contributor has made a github pull request, and he releases a new Ubuntu Make 15.08. Didier writes "That made my day." He also notes Igor Vuk has added Scale support, and informs us that the new Ubuntu Make is available directly in Ubuntu Wily, and for the current releases through a ppa.

=== Ubuntu One file syncing code Open Sourced ===

Martin Albisetti writes about the open sourcing of the biggest piece of Ubuntu One file syncing service code. The code released is the server side of what desktop clients connected to, received the most innovation and work as it faced scaling challenges, and was the basis from which other components were built upon. It is released under AGPLv3 license.

=== Ubuntu and LXD at ContainerCon 2015 ===

Dustin Kirkland writes that Canonical are delighted to sponsor Container``Con 2015 which is being held in Seattle between August 17th and 19th. === Meet Mycroft: Open Source Artificial Intelligence Powered by Snappy ===

In a guest post from the the Mycroft team, they share the news that Mycroft AI is being powered by Ubuntu Snappy Core, which is aimed specifically at the Internet of Things. They write that by integrating with smart devices and using voice control for streaming services and more, they aim to make a house smarter. It will make online services like You``Tube, Netflix, Pandora, Spotify and others available using voice commands. The article concludes: “The Mycroft team believes that AI is too important to remain proprietary. If you believe that the future of AI should be open source you should consider backing them on Kickstarter.”

BQ goes global with Ubuntu

Jordana Sherman announces the opening of BQ's global store where anyone can now buy an Aquaris Ubuntu edition handset. Jordana writes: "We know (and BQ has acknowledged) that network frequency, and mobile operator, compatibility in some countries, such as the US, will limit some of the handset and OS functionality that European users are presently enjoying." She continues by saying that Canonical stand committed to bringing the best Ubuntu phone to individual regions around the world.

Several blog and news sites picked up on the story. These articles are amongst those that found by our editors from around the web:

Reintroducing the Ubuntu Free Culture Showcase

Nathan Haines announces the reintroduction of the Ubuntu Free Culture Showcase, an opportunity to show off high quality free culture content in Ubuntu, featuring submissions in three categories: wallpapers, video, and audio. He writes that the judges have yet to be selected, links to a wiki page where further information can be found, and confirms a submission deadline of September 15th, 2015 at 23:59 UTC. Nathan says that the winners will be featured in the Ubuntu 15.10 release in October.

Ubuntu One file syncing code Open Sourced

Martin Albisetti writes about the open sourcing of the biggest piece of Ubuntu One file syncing service code.
