Groovy to use GRUB2 for booting installer media in any modes on all architectures

Dimitri John Ledkov tells us that bootloaders used to boot Ubuntu systems will change. Detailing how previously Ubuntu booted differently in BIOS to UEFI systems, this change will make them both use grub. We are told this will impact all flavors, and are asked to report any failures to boot if we're testing groovy.

Egmde: updated features

LibreOffice 7.0 Beta 2 Released For This Open-Source, Vulkan-Supported Office Suite

Michael Larabel writes that LibreOffice 7.0 is aimed to be released in early August, but for that to be a success they need testers. Michael lists some of the features and optimizations found in the beta release, and provides a link for more detail.

It's Looking Unlikely KDE Will See Per-Screen Scaling On X11 This Year

Michael Larabel refers to the 2020 KDE roadmap, and reports on what the KDE team has accomplished so far this year. Mesa 20.2 Gets A Release Schedule With Hopes Of Shipping By End Of August

AMDVLK 2020.Q2.5 Driver Released With Some New Bits + Bug Fixes

Michael Larabel reports on the advances made to the AMD Radeon Vulkan driver. Noted in the advisory are added support for vkGetDeviceQueue2, fixes of RandR lease display handling, driver crashes, a null pointer crash, and timezone handling. The download link with more details is provided.

Linux Kernel and NVIDIA Vulnerabilities Patched in Ubuntu 20.04 LTS, 19.10 and 18.04 LTS

Skanda Hazarika writes that XDA Recognized Developer Erfanoabdi "has successfully created a GSI-esque, platform-agnostic Ubuntu Touch image that can be installed on any Project Treble compliant device". Skanda gives the patching directions and the flashing process for these Android devices.
