Alex Murray blogs about CVE-2020-10713 or what has been named BootHole or 'There's a hole in the boot'. In this extensive post, Alex outlines how the initial CVE expanded into multiple CVEs, and provides insight into the co-ordinated way the open source community worked together with Microsoft to resolve the problem. We are also introduced into the scope of this vulnerability and complexity of the problem and superficially the UEFI boot system. This involves the signing of shim binaries by Microsoft, and involves co-ordination also with OEMs and other vendors.
