Brian Murray of the Ubuntu Release Team warns us that Ubuntu 20.10 (Groovy Gorilla) will reach end-of-life on 22 July 2021. Brian provides us with links for "instructions and caveats" on the upgrade process to move to Ubuntu 21.04.

Proton 6.3-5 RC Allows More Windows Games To Run On Linux

Michael Larabel reports on Proton's Steam client release candidate. Michael notes there are many improvements to video renderings, through Direct3D 9/10/11 support, using DXVK's DXGI, and the latest VKD3D-Proton code. This release adds at least seven more games to the playable list and enhances the play in many others. Additionally are reported improvements, fixes, and better support for container-based builds. A link is provided to Proton GitHub for full details as well as the easy update instructions for those willing to test the candidate.
