Łukasz Zemczak of the Ubuntu Release Team has started the Bionic Beaver (18.04.6 LTS) "Extra Point-Release Status Tracking" document. This is a live document which shows the road ahead, and gets amended as tasks/steps are completed until Ubuntu 18.04.6 is finally released.

Another Batch of Important Linux Kernel Security Updates Arrives for Ubuntu Users, Patch Now

Marius Nestor alerts us that Canonical have published a new set of Linux kernel security updates for Ubuntu 21.04, Ubuntu 20.04 LTS and Ubuntu 18.04 LTS. Providing us with the CVEs that are fixed for various kernels/releases, we are also given detail on how the various exploits were discovered and who discovered them. As always, the post ends with a recommendation to update our systems to ensure we are fully protected against these security vulnerabilities and to reboot.

Valve Releases Major Steam Client Update with New Downloads Page, Linux Improvements

Marius Nestor informs us that Valve has released a major update to the Steam Client for all platforms. Along with informing us of the various new features, and some improvements, we are provided with a link to the full release notes.

KDE Frameworks 5.86 Improves Plasma Wayland for NVIDIA GPUs, Adds over 200 Changes

Marius Nestor reports on KDE Frameworks' release of 5.86. Maruis' noted improvements include NVIDIA GPU support in the Plasma Wayland session, fixes for two critical memory leaks, as well as numerous improvements across the Qt libraries. Also highlighted within the more than 200 changes are keyboard shortcuts, reworked buttons for text, better performance for QtQuick-based apps, new icons, as well as some other improvements.
