Michael Larabel writes to make us aware of Canonical's release, in cooperation from Intel, of optimized Ubuntu builds for Intel processors. The build releases are stated along with the currently supported processors. The download link for Ubuntu Core 20 and Ubuntu 20.04 LTS Intel-optimized builds is provided.

Heyan Maurya remarks that for those of us wanting the latest features and updates with Long Term Service, the next long-term supported version daily build is now available. Heyan speculates that Snap apps will be more prominent, as evidenced by Firefox, and advises on some of the component versions present on the testing Ubuntu 22.04. Ubuntu Continues Work On Flutter+Dart Written Firmware-Updater Utility

Michael Larabel writes that Canonical is working on a "firmware-updater" for the 22.04 release, using the Flutter toolkit and Dart. We are told the project is mostly a GUI frontend for the FWUPD utility, but with better integration than GNOME firmware provides. Links are given if we need more details.

TUXEDO Nano Pro Gen11 Dubbed as the Smallest Mini Linux PC Powered by AMD Ryzen 4000U

HP Linux Imaging and Printing (HPLIP) Drivers Now Support Ubuntu 21.10 and Debian 11

Marius Nestor reports that the HP Linux Imaging and Printing (HPLIP) drivers have been updated to version 3.21.10, which includes support for Ubuntu 21.10 and others. In providing a list of printers which it supports, we are given links for the download or instructions to install.

LXQt 1.0.0 Desktop Environment Released After 8 Years of Development, This Is What’s New

Canonical Extends Reach of MicroK8s

Mike Vizard writes that Canonical has updated their "lightweight distribution of Kubernetes, known as MicroK8s" adding support for version 1.22 of Kubernetes, including a beta version that runs on IBM Z mainframes. Mike provides details of the product, including what differentiates it from other lightweight distributions of Kubernetes. Rob Gibbon of Canonical also says that Canonical is committed to providing Ubuntu as a Docker image portfolio.
