Call for nominations: Developer Membership Board

Robie advises that there will be three open seats on the Developer Membership Board and thus the call for nominations to fill the vacancies. Robie provides the qualifications and advises candidates must be Ubuntu Core Developers or MOTU; whereas Members of the ubuntu-dev team in Launchpad will be eligible to vote. Nomination procedures are given and we are told that "voting will commence on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 and will last for approximately seven days, ending on or around Wednesday, March 30, 2022”.

Vote for the Jammy Jellyfish 22.04 Wallpaper Competition!

Monica Ayhens-Madon (madhens) advises voting is now live for the Ubuntu 22.04 wallpaper contest. The voting link is provided, in which you must select your two favorites. Voting is presently open and the winners will be announced after March 10. The winners will be put on the release image before UI freeze.

Ubuntu Testing Week March 3rd-10th

Mike Royal reminds us that Ubuntu 22.04 LTS's release is about 7 weeks away, and as such asks that we start testing it now to find bugs so they can be addressed quickly. We are reminded it's alpha software. Mike gives us the beta release date and lists other milestones, along with various links so we can download different ISOs and record our testing.

Meet Login Manager Settings, a New App to Customize Your GNOME Desktop’s Login Screen

Marius Nestor tells us about Login Manage Settings (gdm-settings) which is a new app by Mazhar Hussain written in Python and using GTK4 and libadwaita. We are told what it allows you to select, and given screen captures so we can see it in action, as well as a link so we can download and compile it ourselves. An AppImage exists of the app currently, as it doesn't yet exist in any released version of GNOME.

KDE Gear 21.12.3 Released as the Last in the Series with More Fixes for Dolphin and Ark
