New Features in Lubuntu 14.10
- General bug fix release as we prepare for LXQt.
- Many LXDE components have been updated with bug fix releases.
- An update of the artwork (more icons, theme update, more compatibilities ...).
Lubuntu Applications
Based on the lightweight LXDE desktop environment.
Pcmanfm, a fast and lightweight files manager using gio/gvfs.
Openbox, the fast and extensible, default windows-manager of LXDE.
Lightdm, using the simple GTK greeter
- Firefox, the famous web browser.
For more detail, please see the full list of applications.
System Requirements
A Pentium II or Celeron system with 128 MB of RAM is probably a bottom-line configuration that may yield slow yet usable system with a standard Lubuntu desktop.
32-bit requires your CPU to have Physical Address Extensions, or PAE. PAE is provided by Intel Pentium Pro and above CPUs, including all later Pentium-series processors (except most 400 MHz-bus versions of the Pentium M). If you have an error with Celeron M reporting "NON-PAE CPU" and would like to install Lubuntu, please see this page.
Known Issues
Installation
- The i386 Desktop image is slightly oversized and will need to be burnt to a DVD or USB.
Encrypted install fails, though there is a workaround (1205397).
Graphics and Display
Pager preferences crashes, but a workaround exists (1272834).
Power manager is hard to see (1334088).
PPC
Due to several bugs, including a showstopper for those with Radeon graphics (1377878), there will be no ppc release for this version.
We recommend using one of the LTS versions.

Support
- 9 months support
we may use this later, but for 14.10 there is no Mac release.
For PowerPC, it is known to run on a G4 running at 867MHz with 640MB RAM.
