I have been using Linux on and off since 2002. After the Hoary release, I replaced by OS X installation with Ubuntu on my powerbook and have since never looked back. Ubuntu is an operating system I was very impressed with. (I used to use Yellow Dog Linux and Debian before). It has a very friendly community, and makes it pretty easy to ask questions and contribute back to Ubuntu.

Since then, I have installed Ubuntu on my ibook, on my friends Toshiba laptop, another friends AMD64 machine just to test out Ubuntu on various platforms.

Support

I joined NewUserMentors on 2005-09-08. Since then, I have spent about 5-6 hours on #(k)ubuntu everyday trying to answer questions that people might have. I am also an kop on #kubuntu.

I also try to answer questions on the [http://www.ubuntuforums.org/ Ubuntu Forums].

Documentation

I help clean up the wiki as a member of the [https://launchpad.net/people/wikiteam WikiTeam]. Please see links at the bottom for my contributions.

Since I use Kubuntu, I am a member of the [https://launchpad.net/people/kubuntu-team Kubuntu Team]. I am currently working on the [DocumentationTeam/KubuntuDesktopGuide Kubuntu Desktop Guide] and coordinate with other people, encouraging them to contribute to the guide.

Other

I am also part of the [http://easyubuntu.freecontrib.org EasyUbuntu] developers team. My main motivation is that projects like this will always exist, so it might be better to influence them by contributing to them (code-wise), instead of complaining about how unsafe they are, as new users will definetly not care.

Future Plans

My basic aims are to continue doing what I am doing right now, i.e. Support and Documentation.

I am currently learning to package the "right" way. I would like to build packages for [http://www.pyrorobotics.org pyro], and am currently coordinating upstream for all the dependencies of pyro robotics. Hopefully, I will be able to help the MOTU Science team and the Ubuntu team with my packaging skills soon.
