| = Projects = - Founder of SLUG: St. Ignatius [High School] Linux Users Group The club probably has faded, due to the other commitments that I and ashford had senior year [and thus only attracted a few followers and was still an unofficial club]. Had we actually did more junior year, it would have probably taken off, but I hope for the best ;) Through SLUG, I learned about how to run a group, cordinate meetings in centralized times and locations, and realize that Linux, right now, is near competant to attract teens who are above-average computer saavy. However, a good [guesstimate 75%] segment of teenage computer enthusiasts either game very often and/OR avidly use iTunes. Seriously, I don't think wine or cedega can compete with native windows [YET] nor there is the capability on linux to offer an integrated client that purchases [legally], manages, and plays music. Linux probably won't reach there anytime soon, and seriously, that's fine with me. However, it can signficantly increase market share of the teen/college-age population of linux users [just as Apple recently has, at least my college, which is 70win/30mac]. - Also a Member of CLUG - Cleveland Linux Users Group |

I hang out in the #ubuntu-doc once in a while.
There's a lot of people who try out linux and get frustrated because they ran into a problem and can't find the answer. So, they dismiss Tux and never realize what could have been [if they stayed around !] Though I was about to give up on linux [and mandrake - GRRR !!!], I stuck with it, thanks to the people at justlinux, barry, and my own determination. So, when people seem to be at wit's end, I like to help them and guide them to the information that's out there.
== The iBook era == Yes, in the summer of 2005, I broke down my allegiance with Tux [not completely] and bought an Apple iBook. I like it, honestly. The underlying unix architecture still allows me to play with the command line, though has the GUI polish that GNOME and KDE are oh so striving for 
I wasn't sure if Linux could completely suit me for college, plus my past experiences with it have made the computer inoperable for days at a time, made me hesitant to go 100% linux. Don't worry, I'll attempt to put the PPC version of ubuntu on there eventually, so it's all good.
