Introduction

The primary goal of Xubuntu Testing is to facilitate regular, organized testing of development releases of Xubuntu. If you have a spare hard drive or computer, and are interested in trying out the latest Xubuntu development releases, this is the place for you.

How Xubuntu Testing is Organized

  • This introductory page, providing an overview of Xubuntu testing.
  • The Xubuntu Testing Info page, explaining more about the testing process, and about which tests you should conduct.

    • The Short Test page, containing specific instructions on how to perform a basic test of Xubuntu. This page includes procedures for both the desktop cd and post-install testing.

    • The Long Test page, containing instructions on how to perform a more thorough test of Xubuntu.

  • The QA Testing Tracker page, where testers should report their test results.

Contact

Active Xubuntu testers can be found in the Xubuntu-development and Xubuntu-users mailing lists, as well as the #xubuntu-devel and #xubuntu channels of the irc.freenode.net network. A current roster of Xubuntu Testing contributors is available on our Launchpad page.

How to Contribute

Contributing is easy - just test and report your tests! The pages of this Xubuntu Testing wiki will show you how to download the latest CD image of Xubuntu, how to run a set of installation and testing tasks, and how to report your results back to this wiki.

Occasional testing is welcome, but regular testing is even better, and we encourage you to join the Xubuntu Testing team. Team membership is moderated, and team members have the ability to renew their own membership every 180 days. When joining, you will need to either list your equipment on your personal wiki page or add your equipment to Xubuntu Testers. Can you test i386, amd64, both, ATI, nVidia or Intel video, CD and/or DVD? This will allow us to create a database of testers and know who to contact when a specific test needs to be done. It is also used to show the test coverage for each release.

Projects

The Xubuntu development team is presently working very quickly towards the release of Xubuntu 11.04, the Natty Narwhal. The full release schedule is available here. To meet our deadlines, we need your help in testing.

To begin testing of Xubuntu, please take a moment to sign up as a Xubuntu Tester in launchpad. We also want you to add yourself to the Xubuntu Testers wiki page, where we track the actual equipment our test team uses. Then, review the Testing Info page. This page explains more about the testing process, and about which tests you should conduct.
