Upgrading from 16.04

Download a Disk Image

To upgrade to Kubuntu 16.10 from 16.04:
- Open Discover or Muon Package Manager
- Ensure that your current system is up to date by installing available updates
- Open Configure Software Sources from the settings menu. Depending on your version of Discover, this may be found in the 'advanced' sub-menu.
- Select the 'Updates' tab, and in the 'Release upgrade' section select Normal Releases.
- Kubuntu 16.10 should then be made available by your normal release upgrade method.
- An example method would be to search for and run 'update-manager' from the K menu or Krunner

If you want to upgrade from console, open /etc/update-manager/release-upgrades file as root and change Prompt line to normal (from lts). Then run do-release-upgrade in console.

- Download a Bootable image. Direct downloads, torrents, and zysnc are available as options.
- The following link contains some tips to put the image onto a DVD or USB Drive

Plasma 5, the next generation of KDE's desktop has been refined to make it smoother to use while retaining the familiar setup.

Combined with KDE Frameworks 5.26.0 the Plasma 5.7 desktop brings improved workflows, rewritten and improved task manager and system tray, another milestone step towards Wayland support, and improved Breeze icons and Plasma theme.

KDE Applications 16.04.3

Kubuntu comes with KDE Applications 16.04.3 containing all your favourite apps from KDE, including Dolphin.
