Checklist
Do read the Release Notes and Known Issues. This will inform you of changes and known issues.
The default "Desktop" installer requires 384-800 MB of RAM (depending on your selected options.) If you have any problems, or if you're comfortable using a keyboard interface, try the alternate installer to install on computers with less RAM or a hard disk smaller than 4.3 GB.
Check MD5SUM for the downloaded ISO - You will need to compare your MD5SUM with Ubuntu Hashes.
Burn the CD OR create a bootable USB flash drive - using UNetbootin is highly recommended
Check USB or CD Disc for Errors. When you boot the default installer, you will see the option to "Check Disc For Errors", otherwise, check for errors manually.
Torrent
Please use the torrent link to download, it will be a faster download and will save on costs for bandwidth for the Canonical servers... which means more money in the budget for all of the Ubuntu flavours.
If you’re not sure about installing Lubuntu, you can try it out without affecting your current installed system.
Hint: With the default CD, you can boot your computer with Lubuntu to back-up your data!
Standard PC
32-bit version, suitable for almost all PCs. |
|
64 bit version for Intel or AMD computers. Most PCs older than about 2007 are not 64-bit compatible, so you may need a 32-bit ISO instead of a 64-bit ISO. |
Alternative Install
Alternate ISOs are for low-RAM PCs. Computers with less than 400 MB of RAM are considered low-RAM computers. You can find more information about Alternative Install here.
Minimal Install
The lowest system requirement of Lubuntu to run on a machine: Please head over to Minimal Install for further details.
