David Thomas (aka dthomasdigital) Bio

http://www.dthomasdigital.com/ubuntu/d_thomas08.jpg

David Thomas is currently the information technology specialist manager for the Metropolitan Court system for the State of New Mexico. He has more than 20 years of experience in the technology support field and his experience includes holding many titles from systems administrator to network engineer. Currently held technical certifications include; Help Desk Analyst Certification (HDA), Help Desk Manager Certification (HDM), and he is Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundations Certified in IT service management.

In 2008 he helped form a non-profit 501(c)3 (pending) corporation. The New Mexico Linux Corporation, the Corporation is registered in the state of New Mexico to promote the education of GNU/Linux and Free Software. The corporation was founded by people from various GNU/Linux User Groups in New Mexico primarily to promote and manage the New Mexico GNU/LinuxFest. Currently Mr. Thomas serves as Chairman of the Board and President.

His involvement with Ubuntu started in 2006 after meeting Michael Rimbert, an Ubuntu member, who had started to lay down the foundation of what is now an official LoCo team The New Mexco Ubuntu Loco. After deciding to do everything he could to make The New Mexico LoCo as successful as they could make it. The New Mexico LoCo went from just 2 members to 30 members in just 6 short months, and in November of 2007 they achieved official status.

David's responsibilities to the team include; create, compile and maintain the Approval Application for official team status, document and record all weekly IRC meetings and monthly "face to face" meetings, maintain the team wiki, help administrate the Launch Pad page, and mailing list. He is also one of the official team contacts.

"I'm extremely proud to be one of the members of the New Mexico Ubuntu Loco, the friendship, knowledge, and spirit of Ubuntu is proving to be invaluable."
