About Me

Hi, I'm a long-time Kubuntu user who has decided it is time to apply for membership.

I started using Unix on a PDP-11, and first used Linux as a live DVD with Ubuntu 8.04 LTS (Hardy Heron), and in VMs soon afterwards. I moved to Kubuntu after the 11.04 (Natty Narwhal) Unity debut, but realized that it was not KDE software that made Kubuntu special, but the way contributors were immediately made welcome.

User support/social media & team engagement

Kubuntu Advocacy

Testing & bug reports

  • Running the development version of Kubuntu (often with -staging / -landing PPAs).
  • Reporting, confirming and testing for bug reports; both in Kubuntu and upstream to KDE.
  • Testing on PC, laptop and various virtual machines newly staged versions of Frameworks, Plasma & Applications, and then continuing to test and report issues once these reach the landing ppas.

  • Testing of daily ISOs for function and install.
  • Testing of candidate ISOs for Alpha, Beta, and milestone releases (e.g. Xenial 16.04.3)

Testimonials

Note: If you have anything nice to say about this person, please do add it below along with @ SIG @ (no spaces). The @ SIG @ command will sign your name and date/time it after you "Save Changes".

Marco is not just a long-time faithful and helpful part of the team, he's also there just when needed. In particular his making the release notes look good along with being factually correct has been really important. I'm very happy to see him apply for Kubuntu Membership. -- valorie-zimmerman 2017-09-20 02:50:14
