I'm on IRC, ready to help whenever needed. I first found out about Ubuntu when my dad installed it on his pc, and the desktop version login music sticks into my head
Ever since then I have wanted to make Ubuntu better, and I believe I have. Not massively in one go, but gently helping people, little bits at a time, building up to somthing which I'm sure, has helped a few people with their issues (whether raging, or Ubuntu).
I have shared my fair few Ubuntu discs with friends (even if they end up keeping it :/), given my fair bit of support to friends when they muck up windows trying to install Ubuntu (why use windows?), and got the word out to anyone looking for a great, free Linux OS. The fact I'm writing this must be a contribution, (somehow).
One day I will get an @ubuntu.com email, and hopefully this well thought out wiki page will help!
To most people, this looks a bit short, but I don't want to ramble on about how great I am. I am who I am, and I hope that I am what is wanted and needed from the Ubuntu community.
Why I want to be an OP in #ubuntu
It's as simple as this, I want to help the community as much as I can, and be considered as a part of the Ubuntu IRC Team.
In a bit more detail, I have had my fair few errors, and being able to sort out people who are causing a nuisance in a channel that might have people who need the support urgently, but someone finds it funny to disrupt people's lives, without thinking of what they have caused in the channel.
To clarify the testimonial above, Twister is an IRC server in which I am a server admin. I have settled many disputes without losing my cool, even when extreme ban evasion was in use, myself and The_Weather_Guy worked together to work a way out to stop this, so we used our programming skills to make a bot to stop the evaider from joining. I know that won't be a problem, but it shows what I can do, when put in a situation like that. No IRC training can get you ready for real situations.
I'd like to say thanks to everyone who has helped me through the way!
Availabilty
On weekends, I'm usually available between 12pm and 4-5 pm On weekdays, I'm usually available between 6:30 pm, and 8:00 pm
Testimonial(s)
If anyone would like to leave a testimonial, please do! And I say thank you to everyone who does!
I, The_Weather_Guy am fully supportive of tomtiger11 becoming an op on the ubuntu channel on freenode. He has displayed excellent workmanship, and is a great help over here at twister. He would be a great addition to your staff.
