=== About === |

===About=== | I am a graduate student at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB). I am interested in applications of signal processing, information theory, and physics simulation. I have been using Linux since 2005 when I was first introduced to Ubuntu Hoary. In recent years, I have become a fan of Fedora. |

I am currently schooling in Irvine, California. I have been using Linux since 2006 when I was first introduced to Ubuntu Hoary. Since then I have tried some other distributions, such as Fedora Core, but I feel Ubuntu is the best. I use Linux everyday for everything. This includes games, work, development, video editing, chatting, downloading, and all other day-to-day activities. I am not very hardocre (yet!) and therefore am not fully comfortable with C/C++, Python, and such, though I have traversed the much into PHP. |

===Contributions=== | The web is a wonderful place, and I enjoy reading and giving back to open-source / open-information communities. I am always available for installation and configuration help, but often times the Ubunut Forums are the best place to ask. (Even for other distributions like Fedora!) |
Line 18: | Line 17: |
My contributions to Ubuntu so far have been concentrated in the Ubuntu Forums, where I have been an active participant since Fall of 2007. I have also advocated Ubuntu throughout my regional area by providing CD's and installation/maintenance help. | === Goals === |
Line 20: | Line 19: |
===Goals=== First off, I would like to learn those basic programming languages that would increase my value to the Ubuntu team (C, C++, Python). Sometime in the near future I hope to become a developer and contribute directly to Ubuntu. I want to build my skills enough to work at Ubuntu for a summer, and perhaps get a full time job there. The Ubuntu California team is growing, and I hope that it reaches new heights. Go Ubuntu! |
A personal goal of mine is to develop an open-source physics engine. For the broader community, I hope linux will become prevalent and mainstream. The best way to make this a reality is to keep using it and advocate free software to everyone you know. |
