I am applying, because I am heavily involved with preparing new upstream kernels for Ubuntu. This work includes compatibility updates for the various DKMS modules in Ubuntu. I would like to be able to sponsor these uploads in order to reduce delays in getting DKMS fixes / updates and to reduce the burden on other sponsors.
Who I am
I am working as a software engineer in the 
Ubuntu Kernel Team at Canonical since 2019. I am specialized in operating systems, embedded systems, virtualization solutions and system architectures.
I received the Laurea degree in Computer Engineering at the University of Siena on 2004. I have contributed to many open-source projects, with a particular interest with the Linux kernel. As an outcome of my development efforts I have implemented the cgroup-io-throttle patch set, that ultimately evolved into the blkio cgroup controller (merged into the mainline kernel).
My Ubuntu story
I started using Ubuntu with the 7.04 release after trying a number of other distros over the years, and since that time Ubuntu has been my distro of choice.

Areas of work
My primary focus has been getting new upstream kernel versions into Ubuntu, fixing up packages impacted by these kernel updates. I am also involved in bug fixes for stable series kernels and uploading kernel SRUs.
Things I could do better
My overall packaging experience is almost entirely with kernel or kernel-adjacent packages. I would like to extend my knowledge to a more diverse types of package.

General feedback
I uploaded Andrea's work on zfs-linux package twice and his fixing and package update changes met the rigorous standard required for such fixes. I was confident that the upload was good as Andrea also tested the updates very carefully and I was able to be 100% confident the work was performed correctly. Andrea is quick to learn and I am very confident in Andrea's focus on detail and trust his work as he does his work with care and accuracy.
