Overview

The Australian team focuses on distributing, advertising and demonstrating Ubuntu within Australia. Through the development of our projects we focus on the areas of schools, business and home users.

Meetings

The Australian Team meets fortnightly on Tuesdays. The next scheduled meeting is at [http://timeanddate.com/worldclock/fixedtime.html?month=7&day=11&year=2006&hour=10&min=0&sec=0&p1=0 11 July 2006, 1000UTC] in #ubuntu-au. Please submit your preferences at http://ubuntu.com.au/meeting-prefs/add.

Projects

The Ubuntu Australian Team is currently developing a few key projects to help promote and raise awareness of Ubuntu in Australia.

Logo

The current ubuntu-au logo was decided upon at the [wiki:AustralianTeam/Meetings/2006Apr04 April 4 meeting]. Designs, submissions and thoughts for the logo can be viewed on [wiki:AustralianTeam/Logo the Logo page]. Logo #7 was chosen as the official Ubuntu-au logo.

Local CD distribution

The 32 bit PC version of Ubuntu 6.07 "Dapper Drake" can be found on the cover of the latest edition of Australian Personal Computer Magazine. Thanks to APC for making this possible

We are also currently trialling an Australian free mailout of Ubuntu install and live CDs. If you would like an official Ubuntu 5.10 "Breezy Badger" CD pack, containing both a Live and an Install CD, please send an email to our distributor:

Standard (32-bit) PC, 64-bit PC and Macintosh PPC are versions available; please specify. Currently, we are only able to send one CD pack per recipient; for greater quantities, please use [https://shipit.ubuntu.com/ the Shipit service]. Please be patient; we're volunteers!

Many thanks to Canonical's ShipIt service for making these CD packs available to us. Please note that we are currently waiting on the arrival of Ubuntu 6.06 LTS CDs so there will be a delay for the moment.
