  • As a member of the Ubuntu-Artwork team I'll also put my remarks considering the "correctness" towards the branding guidelines. You should know that those aren't always my personal view. Nevertheless I believe that the contrast between the background and the logo isn't big enough. The logo (esp. with the black letters) dissolves in the background which doesn't reflect a strong and stable branding. More contrast like the one below seems better to me. (woutervddn) (16/02/11)

  • Great contrast and really simple, just as the guidelines subscribe it. Great! Only remark I have though is the fact that 85 x 200 cm is such a great space to work with that I think it could be possible to get more out of it. (Although it should remain very simple as that will look better.) (woutervddn) (16/02/11)

  • I like that this banner shows the -be.org tag (although I'm not sure if .org ads something to it from a composition point-of-view). As for the random logo's I suggest aligning them. This would make it look less like chaos and it can be subtle hint towards the loading bar of the bootscreen. Just as with the Ubuntu-fr Tshirts you could try to alter the brightness a little so it would look like some are charged and some aren't. (<= although that's another point of dispute between the artwork group) (woutervddn) (16/02/11)

  • Should be translated in French for localized version
  • It looks really cool, but even if we have a Dutch and a French version we still can't use it at fosdem. - Warddr
  • Love the Idea about this banner! It also supports the branding guidelines. Normally I'm not a fan of random colors in the background but these colors just work. The subtle appearance of the dots in the bottom work. Even if it's not in the guides I think we should keep them! Wonder if it would be a good idea to put the Ubuntu letters in white though.(woutervddn) (16/02/11)
  • Accodring to my memoreis of Ubuntu branding guidelines, the the purple should only be used to suggest enterprise oriented software and services (for instance Ubuntu Server or Ubuntu Cloud). enterprise users are part of our audience, but not our core target (most of our booths are at amateurcomputer fairs and community events) --PierreBuyle

  • what if you would put the text in english??
  • That would be, IMHO, 'Freedom in what you do and who you are. Just because." I like this banner the most. (janb)

  • Dutch translation will sound better with 'vrije keuze'. Stil, I like the previous design more.(janb)

Proposal 6 (jurgen) Okay, so I read the comments here (especially the ones on my previous proposal) and digged into the brand guidelines a little deeper... I tried making a rollup that also fits well with the flyer from Massimiliano.

The original (SVG) file contains different layers - I've put in 2 positions for the icons, and I tried making different lanugage texts (assuming the rollout on a certain Dipro or other fair will always have a certain language dominance).

In line of the IRC meeting (March 10, 2011), I added one "simplified English" version and one language-neutral version. If localized language is not chosen, this is the preferred version. The original .SVG-file (with all the layers) can be downloaded too. (so feel free to change/improve/be creative)
