Ubuntu Chicago Local Community Team Meeting & Agenda Page

Ubuntu Chicago is a group of local community members gathered to to advocate the Ubuntu Linux Operating System. Ubuntu Chicago get's their inspiration from bug #1, and uses this to aide in the process of marketing throughout the Chicago land area.

Next Meeting

The meeting will be held on the 6th Floor of the Institute of Design in downtown Chicago. The best place to enter is on the west site of the building, which is on La Salle and Kinzie, a short distance north of the river.

Getting There

There are a number of ways to reach the event:

By car: Please refer to Google maps for directions from your location. Smile :)

By Train: From Chicago to the meeting: BR

* From the Northside: Take the Yellow/Blue/Red/Purple/Blue/Brown Lines south. Red Line South is the (95th/DanRyan) train. Purple Line South is the (Loop) train. Brown Line South is also the (Loop) train. Blue Line south is (54/Cermak) or (Forest Park), both will take you downtown. If you are taking the Yellow line, take it to the Howard stop and transfer to the Red Line. Red Line trains will have to transfer to the Brown OR Purple Lines at the Belmont stop OR at the Fullerton stop, and take these trains to the Merchandise Mart stop. At Merchandise Mart, walk east onto LaSalle (one or two blocks) and head north (turn left if you're walking east) on LaSalle. Blue line trains going south can exit at the Grand stop and transfer to the #65 bus, taking the #65 train to LaSalle, after which, they will walk south 4 blocks to Kinzie. OR riders of the Blue Line may take the (54/Cermak) and (Forest Park) trains south until the Clark and Lake stop. After exiting the Clark stop, they will walk north to Kinzie.

*From the South and West Sides: Taking the Green/Red/Orange/Pink/Blue line trains north. Green Line trains (Harlem/Lake) will go east on the (Loop) trains. (Ashland/63rd) and (Cottage Grove/East 63rd) will go North on the (Loop) train. ALL Green Line train passengers should exit on the Clark and Lake train stop and walk north to Kinzie. Red Line train passengers should take the (Howard) train North to the Monroe stop and transfer to the Blue Line, where they will take the (O'Hare) train north until the Clark and Lake stop. At Clark, they should depart, and walk north to Kinzie. Orange Line passengers should take the (Loop) train downtown to the Clark and Lake stop. Pink Line Train riders should take the (Loop) train downtown, and depart at the Clark stop. Blue Line train riders should take the (O'Hare) train north to downtown, and exit at the Clark and Lake stop.

Note: Depending on the point of exit at the CLARK and LAKE station, riders of the CTA may also have to walk an extra block west, to LaSalle. Keep this in mind.
