This page will teach you how to design your own personalized X sessions. Desktop environments like [http://www.gnome.org GNOME] often have their own session managers. These session managers allow you to specify which additional programs will be loaded at the beginning of your session. However, if you do not use GNOME or [http://www.kde.org KDE], and do not know how to create custom X sessions, then you will have to start all of your applications by hand.
