Current contributions:

  • I do work upstream triaging bugs for Banshee as well as occasional light patchwork.
  • I write documentation on Bug filing for Banshee and Testing Banshee on Ubuntu.
  • I write for OMG! Ubuntu! on Banshee, Mono and other GNOME glamour.
  • I am active on the Ubuntu Forums and engage with users on OMG! Ubuntu!

Near future plans:

In addition to my regular contributions I plan to take on the following in the near term.

  • I will resume blogging on my personal blog on matters that interest me but does not fit naturally with OMG! Ubuntu!.
  • I will work to upstream my Banshee documentation and have it cover Windows as well as OS X.
  • I will write documentation, probably in the initial form as a series of blog post, for filing bugs on DAPs (MP3 players/Phones/Apple devices).

Introduction:

Hi, I am David. I do things around Ubuntu, Banshee and GNOME. I believe in Free Speech and Open Source. What else is there to say. I write for OMG and have been seen around the development and cafe fora on the Ubuntu Forums.

Historical contributions:

Organized and ran the GNOME+Mono Hackfest 2010 in Brussels 2011 (the Hackfest was originally envisioned to be a 2010 even but was pushed to match up with FOSDEM 2011).

Most recently (~2y) I came from a long period as a Fedora User and Package Maintainer. Taking care of amongst other things Banshee and being the initial, yet unsuccesful, driv to revive the Mono Special Interest Group (SIG). I also partook in the Fedora QA effort for a while. This is now in much more capable hands than mine and I am happy Ubuntu user.

During my time with Fedora I also ran the Nouveau driver pledge driver.

Prior to that I did work primarily on Gentoo, amongst others I worked on the BreakMyUbuntu and I published the Love-sources kernel patchset.

Before this I was a patron a, now sadly departed, site called LinuxJunior.org under the moniker Lovechild.

Personal:

I suffer from Tourettes Syndrome and am as of November 2010 on disability. My unconventional schedule allows my passions to breath when there is excess to allow it. I have the delight, the pleasure and the honor to be engaged to a lovely Brazilian woman and I am in the process of applying for a VISA so we can spend our lives together in Brazil.

I am an EFF supporter, a Magnatune download subscriber and a Kickstarter patron. Buyer of many Linux supported, mostly indie, games and soon husband.
