Alberto Milone (tseliot)

Blueprint work:

  • desktop-lucid-xorg-proprietary-drivers:
    • Implemented the new alternatives system and put the following modified packages in my PPA for testing: libxvmc nvidia-common nvidia-graphics-drivers nvidia-graphics-drivers-173 nvidia-graphics-drivers-96 nvidia-settings screen-resolution-extra xorg-server.
    • Added a utility class for alternatives in nvidia-common and adapted the logic behind driver selection to the new name schemes of the drivers.
    • Updated Jockey (in a bzr branch) so that it can use the new nvidia common and disabled fglrx (as currently it doesn't work with Lucid's X).
    • Updated nvidia-settings, changed its packaging and added support for PolicyKit (thanks to screen-resolution-extra).

  • desktop-lucid-touchscreen-handling:
    • Stantum kindly offered to lend me and Peter Hutterer (Red Hat) a 12" multitouch touchscreen developer toolkit to help us implement multitouch in X.Org.

Non-blueprint work:

  • Discussing with upstream, namely Peter Hutterer and Dan Nicholson for X and Martin for udev, the design of a new system for using quirks for touchpad and input devices in general.
  • Became Core developer.

Arne Goetje (ArneGoetje)

Blueprint work:

  • desktop-lucid-ibus-chinese: face to face meeting with other local developers who are interested in his project and have done major development work on existing Chinese input methods, including James Su (author of SCIM) and Tung-han Hsieh (author of xcin). Agreed to set up a mailing list for group conversations and to do some work on unifying the different existing wordlists.

Non-blueprint work:

  • uploaded new Firefox translations into Rosetta for Hardy, Intrepid, Jaunty, Karmic and Lucid
  • installed Launchpad source on my machine in order to debug translation import problems
  • Rosetta import queue cleaning

Bryce Harrington (bryce)

Chris Cheney (ccheney)

Blueprint work:

  • desktop-lucid-new-firefox-support-model
    • backporting epiphany-browser, libproxy, libsoup2.4, webkit, etc

Jonathan Riddell (Riddell)

Ken VanDine (kenvandine)

Blueprint work:

  • desktop-lucid-social-from-the-start
    • desktopcouch message store and configuration storage should land in trunk today or tomorrow
    • new accounts configuration interface is nearly complete, will hopefully land in trunk this week
    • worked on the dbus/python interfaces
  • desktop-lucid-empathy-indicator
    • Bumped empathy to 2.29.4

Luke Yelavich (TheMuso)

Warning /!\ Edit conflict - other version:

Accessibility

  • Involved with various discussions relating to how audio needs to be handled for the console accessibility use case which many blind linux users are still pushing for. The issue in question is how to allow a screen reader to read a text login prompt on a VT, and have the text spoken. It is thought that consolekit needs to have some setup/user/mechaism to set audio device permissions to a particular UID, which the screen reader/pulseaudio can then make use of for text login prompts. The user session would then run the screen reader/audio bits as normal.
  • Received more patches relating to better pulseaudio performance with speech-dispatcher, these have yet to be tested.

Audio

  • Audio bug triaging, bugs in question are against pulseaudio, alsa userspace, and the kernel for hardware enablement.
  • Managed to get all the mac mini 3,1 audio inputs/outputs working, using hda analyser. I have also started working on the alsa hda driver patch to make it all just work, however further research into hda channel modes, and a few NIDs for pins/mixers still needs to be done, and the patch completed.
  • Started working on package updates to make another attempt at allowing an AC# audio stream to be generated from pulseaudio multi-channel output. Of course it cannot be shipped on the disks, but it would be a good option to give users should they wish to send a 5.1 audio signal to their sound system via optical/coaxial S/PDIF cabling.
