Plans & vision for Ubuntu
I see Ubuntu becoming an essential tool to make Gnu/Linux more accessible to everyone, starting with my parents I feel it's a community that is open enough to let anyone participate to the extent of their abilities and availability.
As part of my professional but also personal activities, I plan on focusing on the following:
- Keeping the Ubuntu community open and friendly, following the code of conduct
Becoming a local liaison for local support & advocacy in Quebec province, but also in the rest of Canada and the Colombian community (I originally grew up there)
- Contributing and teaching other how to contribute through in tasks that will make the MOTU's work easier
Contributions
I've listed every current and past contributions related to Ubuntu but I think those in bold are most special to me:
Advocacy, user support
Using and showing off Ubuntu since 4.10
- Using Ubuntu to demo Mozilla in local tradeshows
- Donated several dozen CDs (both ship-it and self-produced) to carefully selected individuals and organizations (including recylced PCs being sent to Colombia)
- Plan on presenting Ubuntu at local conferences, LUGs, tradeshows
- I've contributed some entries to ubotu, the friendly IRC bot on #ubuntu
