Details
General Ubuntu user and Kubuntu fan; spend many long hours helping in #ubuntu and #kubuntu where I can; been on Kubuntu before it was definitively called that ;-).
Ubuntu Activities
The vast majority of my activities are channelled through IRC. It's nice to see the different areas develop into a dedicated community with the facilitation of several decent operators in the earlier stages of #ubuntu particularly. Now we have a strong and friendly IRC operator team, part of which is around at pretty much any time of the day, and effectively ensures that things such as abuse do not go on for long without being dealt with.
Other help includes various small help when needed. I used to host some of the most popular 3rd-party packages that were required for an effective Windows->Ubuntu new user experience, before we were blessed with Seveas' repository. I very briefly got into some documentation in the early days of Kubuntu when essentially only froud was around there; I helped with suggestions in the early creation of easyUbuntu, and still host any necessary things there.
Sporadic editing on the wiki; mostly to edit popular wiki pages to add the "Kubuntu-equivalent" instructions. Created a few wiki pages, but most notably CommonQuestions.
Specifics
- Long-time helper in Ubuntu-related support channels.
- IRC operator in most of the Ubuntu-related channels on Freenode.
- IRC channel contact for #ubuntu-uk and #ubuntu-gr
Future
Who knows? I'll in general always continue contributing to Ubuntu through IRC, as I see it as an effective medium of providing instant support, and because most of all -- I enjoy helping other users.
