Google Earth allows you to view the Earth in 3D.
1. Download the linux version of Google Earth from http://earth.google.com/download-earth.html to your desktop.
2. Press Alt + F2 to open the run dialog box.
3. Paste the following text into the run dialog: gksudo ~/Desktop/GoogleEarthLinux.bin
4. Continue through the installation choosing the default options each time.
