Bad

Grey color/dithered black seems to be created by mixing CMY which looks bad and is buggy. Colors are too light. Black-white stuff prints as it should.

No/Poorly

Printing anything with graphics at 300dpi will cause a "20 MEM OVERFLOW" error. This happens unless you have installed an additional memory module. The driver will send the data all at once and not in chunks, which the printer can't handle.. Printing at 150dpi results in really ugly printouts (especially from firefox). The hp4laser supposedly is smart enough to send the data in chunks, but I'm not smart enough to configure it with cups (http://home.mn.rr.com/richardsons/sw/hp4laser/). (MikkoVirkkilä)

Poorly

Printer regularly goes into a mode where all that will print is a page containing the error message "Unsupported Personality: PCL". Power-cycling the printer is necessary to restore printer operation. See this page for details: [http://www.8ung.at/leising/printfiles.html]

-- don't know how well integrated everything in that database is supported by and nicely integrated in Ubuntu, but when looking for printers that can be made working under Linux in general, look at this: http://www.linuxprinting.org/database.html - they even have links right to amazon where you can buy the machines well suported without searching for a vendor too long, and they get money back from amazon so they can run that database - HenningSprang
