Wireless Network Interfaces
Please put in exact model numbers where possible, see also WiFiHowto.
A pretty complete list of card which are supported under linux is avaiable at http://linux-wless.passys.nl .A list of card that work with ndiswrapper (not applicable on powerpc) is available at http://ndiswrapper.sourceforge.net/mediawiki/index.php/List.
If you find that your device is supported by a driver included with Ubuntu, but the driver is not loaded automatically, please file a bug in Bugzilla! These are easy to fix.

BREEZY: Works out of the box with breezy. Works well, even with WEP. (Note: Some G520 may use acx100 instead.) HOARY: Rev. B of this card will not work out-of-the-box with Hoary--the madwifi drivers that shipped with Hoary are too old. An updated linux-restricted-modules* package is available [http://ubuntupc.com/ubuntu/public-sources/linux-restricted-modules-2.6.10-5-386_2.6.10.5-1gb_i386.deb here] Note that this package is not officially supported. |

Open System Access Point and WEP work out of the box. For WPA-PSK I needed to install wpasupplicant (not included in Ubuntu). I used the Debian Sid package without any problem. This card also works with ndiswrapper. I used a D-Link DI-624+ router to test it. (upgraded firmware of the router, not related to linux nor the wifi card, router rebooted itself even when connecting a windows machine with a ethernet cable, applied last firmware, now doing fine) |

Does not work for me unless I recompile the pci_acx module with latest patches. After that it works. WEP not yet supported for acx111 cards. Added_note: I confirm this card does not work with a default Hoary install: despite the fact that it worked fine with my Hoary install from Array 5. Go figure. The fault seems to be related to an error in loading the firmware which is present in the hotplug firmware folder. |

The latest ndiswrapper release source must be downloaded from [http://sourceforge.net/projects/ndiswrapper/] and the directions for building [https://wiki.ubuntu.com/SetupNdiswrapperHowto] followed while replacing ndiswrapper-1.1 with the version downloaded (i.e. latest at time of writing = ndiswrapper-1.5); everything works except the signal strength monitor, probably because it gets compiled against version 17 of the wireless extensions instead of 18; lastly, you'll probably need to install gcc3.4 using Synaptic otherwise build will fail |
