Notes
3D works with the nvidia restricted drivers, makes suspend happen much faster than xorg nv driver, and improves video performance. The device section of xorg.conf looks like this:
Section "Device"
- Identifier "Configured Video Device"
- Driver "nvidia"
Option "NoLogo" "True"
Option "RenderAccel" "True"
- Option "AllowGLXWithComposite" "True"
Option "UseDisplayDevice" "DFP"
- Option "NvAGP" "1"
The "NvAGP" "1" line is needed to avoid a blank display when coming out of suspend. Also, Option "AddARGBBGLXVisuals" "True" should go in section "Screen" of xorg.conf.
Do *not* put any input device sections in the xorg.conf file (keyboard, synaptics, etc) as X now automagically configures these with hal. Putting the synaptics driver section in explicitly causes loss of some functions. Also, the Modules and Fonts sections are not needed, as X loads the usual defaults already.
